If you’re unhappy with your current smile but want a Smile Makeover, but you don’t want the expensive and painful experience of braces… Clear aligners may be perfect for you!
Traditional braces are known to be a long, tedious, and very painful experience. They take a lot of time and care, and cause a lot of discomfort. That’s why so many dentists are turning their attention to the new and much improved method of cosmetic dentistry: clear aligners!
So what are clear aligners, and how are they so different from the usual braces? Well to start off, while braces are made of metal wires that are permanently glued onto your teeth (for a certain duration of years), a clear aligner is actually made of plastic, and is removable. You will be given a set of nearly invisible, medical grade plastic aligners especially custom made for your own teeth.
One of the many reasons why patients prefer clear aligners is because it gives you the freedom of removing them for eating and brushing your teeth. Another reason is the invisible appearance, and that it is hardly noticeable that you are wearing a pair of aligners.
Additionally, there are different types of clear aligner treatments that are dependent on the individual patient and their goals. One brand of clear aligners is Invisalign, and here are a few options:
- Invisalign Full: 12-18 months, intensive orthodontic correction. This is typically for more severe cases of teeth which need a lot of repositioning.
- Invisalign Lite: 7 months or less, used to treat moderate cases of teeth which require some repositioning.
- Invisalign i7: 3 months, simple cases. This is the easiest and shortest treatment, used for people who only need minor fixes to their smile.
Each clear aligner treatment involves a number of removable plastic retainers, also called trays. You begin with your first tray which is made to fit your teeth, and every few weeks you switch to wearing a new tray, designed to slowly and comfortably realign your teeth. Some treatments involve as few as 5 trays, while others may involve more.
The duration of your treatment and the number of trays you will receive all depends on your individual case! Thats why its so important to visit your dentist and ask them about what they recommend for you. At Cookstown Dental Centre, we only recommend the best, easiest, and most affordable plan for you that will ensure you receive a beautiful smile in the end!
